The Northern Line, the oldest SRT railway line, opened its first section in 1894. Night trains usually offer sleeping berth seats. The Eastern Line ends at Cambodia's border, though SRT trains no longer travel to Malaysia; passengers must transfer at Padang Besar to continue on KTM trains. The North-Eastern Line takes approximately 12 hours between Bangkok and Nong Khai, and up to 10 hours to Ubon Ratchathani.
