A small harbor called Salakan Ferry Terminal is situated on Peleng Island in the Banggai Islands Regency of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. Through the town of Luwuk, it connects Peleng, which is sometimes called Banggai Kepulauan, to the mainland of Sulawesi and other close islands.
The port is in Bongganan Village, which is in the Tinangkung Sub-district and is 9 km south of the center of Salakan Township. Although Salakan is a small town, it is the capital of the regency and a major hub for movement between islands in the area.
On the southwest side of Peleng Island, near Salakan Bay, it is located. Locals sometimes call the port area Pelabuhan ASDP Saiyong, which refers to the state ferry station that is about 9 km from the center of Salakan.
Short drive or motorbike ride from Salakan town to the ferry port (ojek motorcycle taxis cost about Rp 20,000 for the 9 km ride). It is possible for some parts of the paved road going to the port to be rough.
Take a boat from the Luwuk boat Terminal if you are coming from Banggai on the island of Sulawesi. It usually takes 2 to 3 hours to get there.
From Syukuran Aminuddin Amir Airport in Luwuk, you can either drive or take a cab to the Luwuk Ferry Port, which should take about 20 minutes.
From Banggai Laut, you can take local ships or speedboats straight to Salakan. The trip takes about 2 to 3 hours, but it depends on the weather and the sea conditions.
