The Kamunting Railway Station is a train station serving the town of Kamunting, Perak in Malaysia. This train station only serves the regular commuter trains by KTM Komuter on the main north-south railway line. Situated conveniently between the Bagan Serai Railway Station in the north, while the Taiping Railway Station is in the south.
Unfortunately, the high-speed ETS trains no longer disembark at Kamunting Railway Station as only KTM Komuter operates here. It used to be the last stop on the new Butterworth to Kamunting station; however, this service has currently been extended on a couple of stops further south towards Taiping and Padang Rengas.
Kamunting Railway Station is accessible through KTM Komuter train service. Travellers can take the Komuter trains of the “Padang Rengas – Butterworth – Padang Rengas” train route. Passengers can depart from Butterworth Railway Station or any other KTM stations included in the route to get to Kamunting Railway Station.
Another option is by taking the local bus service to the train station. Board the Rapid Kamunting Service RKM10 that cover routes between Taiping and Kamunting. Upon reaching to Kamunting Railway Station, travellers may disembark at a bus stop of the said train station. It takes about a 4 minutes’ drive from Kamunting Bus Terminal to reach Kamunting Railway Station.
Kamunting Railway Station is operated by the Malayan Railways, also known as the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB).
Travellers can access the available facilities within the Kamunting Railway Station while waiting for departure. There is a prayer room provided for Muslims to use. This train station is disabled-friendly as it has an elevator for travellers’ convenience and there is also a parking space for those who drive themselves to the train station.
