About Merang Jetty

Merang is initially a fishing village situated at the Setiu district of Terengganu about 25 KM away from the Kuala Terengganu town. However, Merang has always been mistaken as Marang, due to both places situated in Kuala Terengganu with very similar names, so travellers are advised to double check before travelling to either of these towns.

Famous for being the gateway to many islands in the east coast including Redang Island and Lang Tengah Island, travellers can go to either these islands by ferry or speedboat to Merang Jetty. The jetty is located at the edge of the Merang River.

How to Get to Merang Jetty

Travellers can take the local public bus services to get to Merang Jetty as it is the cheapest mode of transportation available. From Kuala Terengganu, travellers can board a public bus from the local terminal to get to Merang Jetty conveniently.

The bus ride from Kuala Terengganu to Merang Jetty takes approximately 1 hour to arrive, in which the travellers shall alight at the bus stop near Merang Jetty to walk to the jetty. However, speedboat rides to Redang Island from the jetty is organised by the resorts the travellers are staying.
