Prambanan Temple
- Located in the Central Java region of Indonesia
- Is a collection of massive Hindu temples also known as candi
- Built by the Mataram Kingdom and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site
What can you find there?
- Candi Lara Jonggrang or Candi Prambanan: The largest and the most visited temple in this area where originally about 240 temples were there but today only six of them have stood the test of time
- Also explore the three important temples to visit here are the Candi Shiva dedicated to Lord Shiva, Candi Brahma dedicated to Lord Brahma and Candi Vishnu dedicated to Lord Vishnu
- Candi Bubrah & Candi Lunbung: Located at the northernmost side of the region are two Buddhist temples whose ruins are visible
- Candi Sewu: This is a large complex of Buddhist temples (about 1000 in its times!), all of which are now ruins and one can check only the eastern part of it
- The sight of the museum and the audio visual show giving away the basic info about the temple complex is all that you can check out as well
