The Sambisari Temple
- A 9th century constructed Hindu temple located about 8 kilometer east of Yogyakarta in Indonesia
- Was buried over five meters underground for hundreds of years before the first stone slab was discovered by a local farmer in the year 1966
What can you find there?
- While the temples exteriors are mainly plain, you can find the inner walls engraved with various scriptures like dragons and Gana
- There is the statue of Lord Ganesha which is located at the southern part of the temple
- The northern side of the temple beholds the statue of Goddess Durga Mahisasuramardini
- The statue of God Shiva can be seen in the niche region
- These are found at the center of the chamber in the temple and the lingga is made of white stone and the yani is made up of black stone
