The Old Mien Dong Bus Terminal in Bình Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, is one of the city’s most historic and important transport hubs. Established in the 1970s and moved to its current location in the early 1980s, it long served as the largest bus station in HCMC. For decades, this busy terminal connected Ho Chi Minh City with provinces across Northern, Central, Central Highlands, and parts of Southeastern Vietnam.

Together with the Western Bus Station (Mien Tây) on the opposite side of the city, Mien Dong became a main gateway for intercity travel in southern Vietnam. Its strategic location links Thu Duc City, Bình Dương, and Bình Phuoc areas with downtown Saigon. In 2020, a New Mien Dong Bus Station opened in Thu Duc to expand capacity, and many long-distance routes were relocated there. However, the old Mien Dong terminal continues operating and still serves numerous travelers. It remains an important hub for certain routes – currently hosting fixed interprovincial buses to nearby provinces like Bình Dương and Bình Phuoc, as well as to the Central Highlands region such as Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, and Kon Tum.

How to Get to Mien Dong Bus Terminal

Thanks to its central urban location, getting to old Mien Dong Terminal is quite convenient. Here are the common transport options and directions:

• By Public Bus: Ho Chi Minh City’s public buses offer an easy, budget-friendly way to reach the terminal. Several city bus routes stop at or near Mien Dong. For example, Bus #55, #56, or route D4 can bring you close to the station from various parts of the city. From downtown, Bus #45 runs from Ben Thanh Market area to Mien Dong, and Bus #14 links the Eastern and Western bus stations (Mien Dong – Mien Tay). There’s even a shuttle Bus #67 connecting the old and new Mien Dong stations.
• By Taxi or Ride-Hailing: Taking a taxi or booking a car/bike via ride-hailing apps (such as Grab, Gojek, or local services) is a convenient door-to-door option. Since the terminal is only about 7 kilometers from District 1, the ride can be fairly quick (roughly 15–25 minutes from city center under normal traffic).
• By Private Vehicle: If you have your own motorbike or car, you can drive to the station. From central Saigon (District 1), the typical route is to go north/east along Dien Bien Phu Street, continue onto Xo Viet Nghe Tĩnh, then turn onto Dinh Bo Linh Street – the bus station will be on your right-hand side shortly after you cross the Bình Trieu Bridge.
