About Sipitang Jetty

Sipitang is the name of the town and a district in Sabah, located near the Sarawak border. The town has been hosting the biennial cultural event called Gasing and Tamu Besar (GATA) since 2003. The festival highlights cultural activities including traditional music, games and dance performances led by the locals. There is also the Sipitang Esplanade, which is one of the attractions in this town where visitors can enjoy the sea view by the paved walkway.

Most locals would travel to Labuan by boat from Sipitang Jetty. Labuan is quite well-developed with public facilities and is one of the main reasons that people take the boat trip from Sipitang into the town. The journey from Sipitang Jetty to Labuan requires an approximate time of 2 hours, which is priced at RM30 for a one-way trip. The jetty is a very simple sheltered pier, situated very close to Pasar Nelayan Jeti Tanjung Pagar.

The location of the jetty is only temporary as Sipitang Jetty was initially located next to the customs department, but relocation had to be made due to the previous monsoon occurred. Within the Sipitang District, getting to Sipitang Jetty is only accessible by car and taxi. From Kota Kinabalu, bus trips are provided by Sipitang Express Bus Services , and it takes 2.5 hours to reach Sipitang. Once you have arrived at Sipitang Bus Terminal, grab a taxi for a 6-minute ride to Sipitang Jetty. Some other districts in Sabah also offer express bus services to Sipitang, operated by the same bus operator.
