JB Sentral was built to replace the former Johor Bahru Railway Station. Located at Bukit Chagar in the heart of Johor Bahru, JB Sentral is known to be an integrated transportation hub connecting with Johor Bahru City Square Shopping Centre by pedestrian overhead bridges. Being a part of the Southern Integrated Gateway, JB Sentral is conveniently connected to the Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex as well.

Travellers are offered KTM Intercity train services here at JB Sentral. It is said that this station is planned to be the central hub for rail as well as bus transportation within Johor Bahru.
