About Shenton Way Bus Station

Shenton Way Bus Terminal was once known as Prince Edward Road Bus Terminal in the early 1970’s. The bus terminal was moved further south to a new facility at the end of Palmer Road in 1987, therefore the name was changed to Shenton Way Bus Terminal. Interestingly, the terminal was first relocated to a new site in 2010 and the next one was in 2017 due to the demolishment of the former site at Palmer Road.

Currently, Shenton Way Bus Terminal is in the Central Business District (CBD) along Shenton Way, near the Prince Edward Road junction, just north of the former site. The terminal is located next to the Bestway Building and directly opposite the Monetary Authority of Singapore building. The terminal fundamentally acts as a terminating point for bus routes serving the Shenton Way area before branching out to the central of Singapore.

How to Get to Shenton Way Bus Terminal

Travellers can commute to Shenton Way Bus Terminal through the nearest MRT stations. The nearest station will be at the Tanjong Pagar MRT Station (EW15) along the East-West MRT Line, which only takes about 3 minutes of walking distance to the said bus terminal.

Take the bus from Downtown MRT line to the bus stop opposite the MAS building and walk towards the Shenton Way Bus Terminal. Alternatively, travellers can walk to the bus terminal from the Downtown MRT station via Shenton Way that takes about 12 minutes or so depending on the comfort and convenience.

Ever since the Shenton Way Bus Terminal has been moved to a different site last year, the facilities were also upgraded. As of now, the bus terminal has a single vehicular concourse spot with angled bus parking lots, a combined vehicular entrance and an exit along the Palmer Road. However, due to low passenger demand at the terminal, queue lanes are not installed for now. However, the Shenton Way Bus Terminal provides sheltered waiting areas with metal benches for public use.

In the terminal building, other necessary amenities that can be found are washrooms, a canteen, first aid and nursing rooms, as well as staff lounges along with phone charging ports are offered at the Shenton Way Bus Terminal. Bicycle parking are adjacent to the terminal as well.
