Public holidays in Labuan share the same public holiday dates as other states in Malaysia, except that it has another special holiday included in the calendar which is Federal Territory Day. This holiday falls every year on February 1 in Labuan as well as the other two territories: Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. Federal Territory Day is celebrated to commemorate when Labuan became the second federal territory in Malaysia, after Kuala Lumpur.
Aside from the Federal Territory Day holiday, Labuan celebrates Harvest Festival or also known as Pesta Kaamatan. It is celebrated each year on the 30th and 31st of May to mark the end of the planting cycle. According to the custom, farmers will give their gratitude to the spirits for providing them with a good abundance of harvest throughout the year and they will seek for blessings on the harvest for the year to come.
