About Slim River Railway Station

The Slim River Railway Station is in the culturally-rich state of Perak, situated at the northeastern side of the town. Since 1903, the station is among the oldest train stations ever existed in Malaysia and was named after the city. Slim River is widely known by its famous waterfalls and historical sites, which served a relaxing ambience for its visitors compared to the hectic city life in Kuala Lumpur.

In March 2017, the station was rebuilt due to the electrified double-tracking project between the towns of Rawang and Ipoh. The old building still retains, with multiple KTM Electric Train Services (ETS) operations that stop at the station on the Ipoh – Kuala Lumpur route. Say goodbye to train delays as KTM ETS rail is highly praised for its almost-perfect punctuality service!

For those who wish to travel directly from Slim River Railway Station to famous destinations including Padang Besar, Alor Setar, Arau or even Butterworth in Penang, travellers are no longer served with direct train services at the station. Travellers will need to go to either Batu Gajah or Ipoh instead to change trains at those stations.
