Sewu Temple
- Located very close to the Prambanan temple in Central Java, Indonesia
- The second largest Buddhist temple complex just after the Borobudur
- Doted to be the best piece of ancient Javanese architecture
- This temple dates back to the 8th century where it was built by the king Rakai Panangkaran of the Mataram Kingdom
What can you find there?
- The main temple is made up of 5 rooms and 9 roofs making a stupa each at the top
- The central region of the complex is the Manjusri Griha, the place where Manjusri a Boddhisatva used to reside in
- Explore the mandala which depicts the universe through the central temple of Mahadev and is surrounded all over by four rings of 250 other small temples, all dedicated to varied deities
